InPubEvents - Poker
At InPubEvents we have carefully designed games to last for around 4-5 hours. The ideal poker tournament structure is set as the default in the app.
With our structure we increase player time and experience at the table which in turn increases dwell time in your venue, this leads to a much higher potential revenue for your business. It is a mutually beneficial relationship, the player has a better experience and the pub has more opportunity to earn revenue.
Poker At A Glance
Poker is played in many formats but the most popular is Texas Holdem, up to 10 players per table. Each player is dealt 2 cards, these are called the hole cards. A round of betting then proceeds where a player can choose several options;
Fold - Decide not to continue to play the hand and wait for the next hand to be dealt.
Call - Match the current bet and continue in the hand
Raise - A minimum of double the current bet and continue in the hand
Check - If you have paid the minimum as the blind you can check and take no action.
The Flop - Three community cards are then dealt onto the table face up and another round of betting begins.
The Turn - One more community card is dealt onto the table face up and another round of betting begins.
The River - One final community card is dealt onto the table face up and another round of betting begins.
Showdown - If 2 or more players remain after all bets then the best 5 card hand wins all the chips bet in that round. If 2 or more players have the same hand the pit is shared equally, Hand rankings can be viewed below.
Ante - In order to ensure players don't just fold every hand until they get good cards, an ante bet of a small blind and big blind must be paid by the 2 players directly to the left of the dealer button, this blind increases per level and levels are around 8-15 minutes each it's starts off low for instance 50-100 and increases each level.
Summary
These are the very basics of poker and it takes many years to become an accomplished player, but at the stakes involved in pubs, never more than £5 per player per game it is more of a friendly community game than the bigger stakes at a casino. Where entry can cost up to a million dollars.
